Publishing is at it best when it takes risks and does interesting shit 👍🏾

I experienced a particular alchemy with the team I worked with on WHY I'M back in 2015, from editorial to cover design to publicity. It was a challenge for all of us, no blueprint to follow. I don't think that can be recreated.

That's not to say that the space doesn't need more writers with new + interesting things to add to the conversation. It does! But if I'm feeling tired by the industry's failure to be innovative and exciting when introducing these new writers, then I can't imagine how readers feel

I think publishing is doing a disservice to up and coming black writers by trying to do rinse and repeats of my book's success.

Gosh, I don't know how to say this without it sounding like I'm crapping on other writers. But I'm glad this has been written.

After weeks of illness, two rounds of antibiotics and two negative covid tests, I'm finally getting over a particularly virulent chest infection and feeling like myself again. The best Christmas gift I could have hoped for.🎄🙏🏾

After what can only be described as a horrific year for black families in the UK and beyond, there is now a deportation flight to Jamaica planned for early December. There are things we can do to stop this travesty. PLEASE SHARE & USE THIS AS A RESOURCE
