Mayor Lori Lightfoot says regardless of this election’s outcome, Chicago MUST remain peaceful.
”This election has evoked a lot of emotion and understandably so. ...But whatever the outcome, we need to lean into the history in Chicago of peaceful protests.”
Here's the first person in line to vote in the United Center.
She was registered to vote on the South Side, but she received mixed signals about where to vote. So, she woke up at 4 a.m., got her an iced coffee from Dunkin, and voted where she heard "any and everyone" could.

- @JavonteA (now at the Chicago Tribune) won second place in minority issues reporting
Pretty cool to be recognized alongside my former colleagues by Ohio SPJ. For this particular story, I examined preexisting housing discrimination practices in Toledo and its enduring impact on the city. This required a great deal of historical research and a lot of data analysis.
