A Vague Introduction-y Thing

It occured to me, as I was faffin around on Flickr trying to find photos for RM, that I actually have no idea whether anyone likes what I’ve been picking, which led me to thinking about the fact that I haven’t actually gotten around to introducing myself. This has a little to do with the fact that I’m super paranoid about everyone hating me and a little do with the fact that I’m mega busy.

I’m a queer feminist woman who has what I affectionally refer to “my crazy”. One day at the end of December 2006 and I was wandering around, strung out on various substances I wandered into the local mental health clinic, ended up chatting to a psychiatrist who kindly diagnosed me with Borderline Personality Disorder. During my first nervous breakdown in January 2005 I started therapy and spent fifteen months undergoing intensive talking therapy with a shrink who really wasn’t a good fit but who did help me realise a lot about myself.

My “crazy” manifests as major depressive episodes from time to time and the rest of the time I’m just your average uni student whose proned to intense anxiety, social paranoia and just being bone-tired all the time. As much as possible I try and do the things that I need to in order to stay stable. Taking my drugs, getting plenty of rest and trying avoid the things that freak me out are help but sometimes life just gets in the way.

I should probably wrap things up given that it’s late at night and I’m starting to ramble but to wrap things up I just want to make it clear that I’m really keen to start getting some feedback about the pictures. Email me or leave a comment and hopefully we can find a little something for everyone.

I truly look forward to seeing what images you find and post. They bring perspective that is universal but still belongs to somebody. It is very real and you are obviously taking time to choose carefully and well. I have heard from a lot of folks that the visual aspect of the site is great and really keeps them scrolling through. Now you are a huge generator of that mixed media presentation. Nicely done and merci beaucoups.
